Here me out, Game Crazy!!

I’m sitting here writing with Jonah sleeping by my side.  He’s sick..again!  Sarai started with a stomach bug, gave it to Jeremiah and now (of course) Jonah!  It never fails….  Does this happen in your casita too? Ugh, I hate when this happens!

I’ve been having a hard time with something, and I’ve heard that the power of Social Media is the best way to let your voice be heard, so here I go…

We bought a Nintendo Wii from Game Crazy a year ago.  It’s one of the best things we bought!  I love it, the kids love it.  Well, of course, as our luck would have it, it broke down.  Ok, I thought, no fear… I bought the insurance for this very reason!  I checked online to find a GC near here, and surprise, surprise.. there are none!

Hmm?? Ok??? I called the one closest to me ( which is about 12 miles away) and asked if I can turn in my Wii because it’s broken.  This was 2 weeks before Christmas 2009.

Their response was that they don’t have any at this moment, and I would be put on a list for the Wii, and that’s about all they can do.  Apparently Japan is making them, and they’re waiting on a shipment from Japan/Nintendo/GC.  When I asked why aren’t there any GC’s closer to me, they said they closed down the majority of GC stores.

My heart sank.  I’m sure this store will go under, if you know what I mean….

I called the corporate office, and they basically told me the same thing.  This morning I passed by a Hollywood Video store that had a small GC store in it, and it had STORE closing in 5 days signs.

I think I may be out a Wii.  I have a total of 4 Wii games that my kids got for Navidad (unopened), with no console to play them in….

Back to Jonah.  My sweet, dulce Jonah.  As he was falling asleep, he told me that he hopes he can play his Wii tomorrow, since he won’t be going to school.   GC, sorry that you’re going down the tubes in all, but don’t you think you can leave you customers on a positive note?  Take are of business first!

At least mine… ):

Sincerely,

A very disappointed customer

  • Is there any way you can call the manufacturer directly and see if they can help?
Now I’m assuming GC is a store kind of like Radio Shack, right? Did you get then the insurance coverage through the store or the manufacturer? Because if it is the story, well you are probably out of luck, unless you continue calling directly to their corporate office and hope they will help.

Anyway, I hope you get the Wii fixed or replaced soon. Now I’m worried, we’ve had our Wii for about three years now, all is working well. Never got insurance for it (knock on wood), but now I’m worried. We bought ours at Wal-Mart, though and from the looks of it, they aren’t going out of business any time soon. I hope. =)

  • Heck, I should have bought it from “La Walmart” (:

I got the insurance through GC, cuz if anything should happen to it, I can always go there to have it replaced. Pfft, de lo mucho que me sirvio!!!

Gracias, por tu comment!!! Como va la tormenta?

  • That really sucks. I hope you get your Wii

  • Great article. I look forward to reading more in the future.

  • Did you ever hear back from these guys? I wonder if they are own and operated? Is the insurance they sell from a 3rd party? Maybe you can go direct to the insurance company?!?! Suerte!!!

No, I never did… Just today I spent “waiting” 1 hour for Customer Service to answer my call. ):

I used to manage a GC in Madison WI and as a former employee of GC let me give you a couple of options, You can take the system and the contract to ur closest GC and if they have none in stock request that call the stores within their district. If noone within the district has one ask if they can try stores within the surrounding district, IF they refuse then get ahold of the DM for the district that you reside in (this normally will light a fire under them) still noluck? Then call home office. If the issue doesnt get resolved through GC You can also call NIntendo and let them know whats going on with the system and they might be able to help. I am sorry that you are having so many issues resolving this and IF my store hadnt shut down and YOU were one of my customers I would like to assure you that I would have done everything I could to get your system replaced. It saddens me to know that customer service is lacking in your area. Best of Luck if I can help any further please let me know.

I did try everything above, and still nothing happened. Customer Service did get a hold of me, and sent me a packing slip to send the console back to someplace in Oregon. None of the stores tried to even call surrounding GC to see if they had any. According to the store in Santa Fe Springs (the closest one to me), they have no access to that information…. ): Thanks for your comment. I appreciate the input. Let’s see what happens when I do send the console back… they told me it’s about a 2 month wait… That Sucks!

  • Good day. To start with I need to say that I genuinely like your weblog, just discovered it the past week but I’ve been following it constantly since then.

I look to agree with most of your views and opinions and this post is no different. absolutely agree with you.

Thank you to get a excellent webpage and I hope you preserve up the very good perform. If you do I will carry on to look over it.

    Have a very wonderful evening.

Hi, I bought an Xbox 360- 60gb. I have been waiting since Feb 5th for a packing slip. NOTHING, I call and call and the help lines says they send them but now I have not received 6 different packing slips, they are lying and I am out 500.00.
Game Crazy are nothing but a bunch of crooks who took my money and have done nothing. People will not give their names, no manager will come to the phone, shame on them and I hope more people write about the stealing, lieing crooks. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING from any of the stores, they are closing and taking your money!

    Oh, no! Another victim!

I’m SO sorry about this. We are both stuck in the same boat! ):

I too used to work at a Game Crazy. And until last week my store was opened. Unfortunately the company, Movie Gallery is under Chapter 11 bankruptcy. I know for certain if it was my store my managers and fellow GSRs would have done everything possible to fix your problem. I know because we have in the past. Regardless of what we had to do, warranty replacements always took first priority in wait lists. Please do not think bad of Game Crazy in this instance, the current economic conditions have really taken its toll on the company as a whole. And because of that they have most likely had to lose some of their staff in every department including Customer Support. GC now has the capability to search for an item in local stores via their computer systems. Even stores across country, I know we had already had to get items shipped cross country to please customers.
