Next month Girls attending 7th to 12th grade are eligible to become a part of the conference. World Renowned Author and Talk Show host Dr. Gilda Carle joins Award-Winning Community Activist and Radio Personality Josefa Salinas to change the lives of 50 girls from Los Angeles this summer at the “How to Be a Girl” conference. Experts say investing and empowering young girls is key to their success in the future.
The free, fabulous, five-day conference will give girls the tools to succeed:
- college preparation
- life skills like balancing a checkbook
- improving self-image through living a nutritious and healthy lifestyle
- Social Media
- Technology and the future
- Healthy Relationships and much more!
The five-day conference will take place from Aug. 23-27, 2010 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Dockweiler Youth Center in Los Angeles. The conference will be filmed to create a documentary that will hopefully inspire girls across the country. And the experience doesn’t end at the end of the week. Each girl will have the opportunity to be a part of the “How to be a Girl” mentorship program during the school year for continued support and guidance.
To be accepted, candidates must submit an essay no more than 300 words explaining why they want to change their lives and participate. They have until Friday, Aug. 6, 2010 to send in their entries via email to HowToBeaGirl2010@aol.com.
